Hair Root Stimulators – Promoting Hair Regrowth
Hair root stimulators have become a key component in many hair loss regimes. Many have found hair regrowth successful when using root stimulators to increase circulation and nutrients to the follicle shaft and root – especially when used in conjunction with hair vitamins or concentrated topical applications.
Also known and referred to as “follicle stimulators”, hair root stimulators use topical applications to restore hair growth by using either botanical extracts for formulations to help the follicle root receive and maintain nutrition and microcirculation. Increased nutrients and blood flow to the scalp can lengthen the Anagen growth phase and help ward off “choking” that leads to temporary and permanent hair loss.
Most commonly seen in sprays or foams for scalp use, hair root stimulators generally are formulated with Minoxidil® (used widely by DS Laboratories® and Rogaine®) or with Trichogen®, a botanical and vitamin complex used by ProFolla®. Both have been shown to promote hair growth and treat androgenic alopecia, or male pattern baldness.
Stimulating New Follicle Growth
Minoxidil®, like Trichogen®, is used in varying strengths and focus on inhibiting or neutralizing conversion of 5-alpha-reductase enzymes to DHT – the leading cause of pre-mature male balding. DHT restricts circulation to the scalp and follicle root and – over time – diminishes nutrient delivery, thus “starving” the root leading to shedding and loss.
Trichogen has become increasing popular and is used in concentrated topical applications and stimulants. ProFolla® and manufacturers like Nioxin® have developed products using Trichogen® or Trichogen-like complexes for restoration. Trichogen® is a combination of active, natural ingredients such as Ginseng, Fenugreek and Biotin and is often combined with Panthenol and Arginine to invigorate and stimulate natural hair growth.
Improving Hair Health and Strength
Though stopping DHT and restoring growth is the main priority of stimulators, most are designed to improve overall hair health. Panthenol and Biotin, for instance are known for improving the appearance of thinning hair by adding moisture to the root and follicle shaft as well as improving elasticity, reducing breaking and helping heal split ends and heat damage from styling.
Hair root stimulators are formulated for just that – stimulate new hair growth. Hair loss products formulated with Trichogen® or Minoxidil® have been shown effective at hair restoration while improving circulation and infusing vitamins and minerals. If you are suffering from temporary hair loss or more permanent male pattern balding, a hair root stimulator should be part of your hair care regimen.
