Food That Help Preventing Hair Loss

Nasrullah Mardani asked:

If one comes to observe every minor and major disorder of the body, the person himself or herself gets frightened of taking so much dosages and medicines. Nature has been helping science for years; those treatments that are naturally eradicated have its own value. Since people do no consider giving time to ailment they prefer strong chemical pills to get rid off any disorder. Hair loss is also one of the similar issues, people either ignore it or those who are conscious prefer to have severe surgeries for its reduction. Both the conditions are extreme levels.

Instead if one thinks that food and diet is the best way to cure oneself from any of the disorder, he or she might prefer to get as much time as the natural treatment takes. Treating disorder of any type naturally has no side effect first of all. Though it takes time, and often for some people it may be not that effective but there is always a solution to a problem in natural method. There are a lot of herbal treatments and natural methods to reduce or prevent hair loss. Since external treatments are always carried on a little attention should be paid on diet and meals. Chickpeas are one prominently considered for its strong effect in hair loss. Consisting of zinc and vitamin B-6 together it works radically on hair follicles making it strong. Zinc promotes protein that directly works for hairs along with this it reacts with vitamin A that directly favors the hair growth.

Then comes the roast beef, the roast beef is option for non-vegetarians. Roast beef also consists vitamin B-6 and Zinc, it is a perfect alternate of chickpeas. Since protein is the power of hair follicles, the diet should be taken that contains adequate proteins. Soy beans is a powerful source of Iron and vitamin E, Iron works to create hemoglobin that processes oxygen to the tissues, with out which hairs can’t grow. Sources of vitamin E are also good for hair scalp it works with the blood circulation. Dry fruits like Almonds is also full of nutrition that is great for hair, one can use almond extracted oil for external use on hair scalp. One point that almonds hold is that it lowers the cholesterol, because the cholesterol lowering medicines sheds hair a lot.

Almond contains protein, Iron and vitamin E, thus all the components work well for hair and also for health. When it comes to wholesome meal, the whole wheat is the first thing that comes in mind. Whole wheat consists of Silica and Iron, Silica plays role of absorbing vitamins and minerals in abundance, it is less found in western diets, might be for this reason the hair loss occurs largely among them. Some drinks also can be considered as rich extracts of vitamins and minerals. Fruit juices have been widely accepted as a big source of natural ingredients that not only work for hairs and skin but also for other body parts internally and externally. Similar like fruit juices, cows milk is a wholesome meal. Its nutritious and a complete diet rich of proteins that directly work with hair scalp. One more thing of cow’s milk is that it has absorbable iodine. A rich food like oats is also a good source of Iron and minerals that quickly absorbs in the blood, other than this oats contain other salts like potassium and phosphorus required basically for good health. When checking fruits, orange is one basic fruit that is a complete source of vitamin C. vitamin C speed up the absorption of salts and minerals in the body and also helps building collagen that is important for hair growth. These are the common foods that are available in our surroundings, it is recommended to eat fruits abundantly and of the seasons, fruits that are not seasonal may not affect that much. Apart from these meals, seafood is highly rich in minerals.

It is observed that nations that abundantly eat seafood have very strong and healthy hair. Eating fish twice a week is good for health, moreover if not eating fish, one can have supplements prepared from seafood. But those are also recommended to consume under doctors advice because seafood may not suit to every one.

Hair Follicle Regeneration in Mammals Poses New Hope For Hair Loss Treatment

W. Darren - asked:

Most types of hair loss conditions are permanent. This means that if your hair loss condition is hereditary, then you are genetically predisposed to go bald. Moreover, you cannot do anything to cure the condition. You can simply slow down the process by using some prescription medications on a regular basis. Fortunately, a significant breakthrough on hair loss treatments has been made lately. The study sparked a new hope for treating baldness as the researchers were able to create hair follicles.

Hair Follicle Regeneration

Before, researchers believed that hair follicle regeneration in adult mammal skin was entirely impossible. This is because scientists and dermatologists believed that mammals generally did not have regenerative qualities. Although it was found the liver has the ability to regenerate some of its parts, the case is considered as an invalid “de novo regeneration” primarily because it cannot regenerate if a significant portion of the organ is not present. As such, they noted that if hair follicles are destroyed or impaired, it cannot be reconstructed or restored.

Through a new study recently conducted at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, researchers found out that wound healing in a mouse model provided an opportunity dubbed as an “embryonic window”. In the said study, some dormant embryonic molecular passages were regenerated. As a result, stem cells were sent to the wounded area. Surprisingly, new hair follicles regenerated from the transported stem cells which were non hair-follicle cells.

Important Implications of the Study

The study notes that hair follicle regeneration might be possible among adult mammals. This was implied through a mouse model experiment which showed that hair follicle regeneration among adult mice is possible once embryonic genes are “reawakened”. Such studies provided evidence that mammals also have the ability to regenerate in the same way as newts and salamanders. Furthermore, researchers noted that once this process is further understood new hair loss treatments might be discovered in parallel to treatments for various skin diseases and wounds.

Senior author of the said study, Dr. George Cotsarelis, Associate Professor of Dermatology from the said university explains that they were able to demonstrate that “wound healing triggered an embryonic state in the skin which made it receptive to receiving instructions from WNT proteins.” She further points out that these WNTs are protein components that are largely important for the development of hair follicles in mammals.

Through the study, the researchers discovered that wound healing can be promoted through the use of WNTs and other proteins that are vital for skin healing. They point out that the use of WNTs can prompt significant development in wound healing. They noted that aside from the prevention of scarring, regeneration of hair follicles, oil glands, and other normal skin components can be expected. Dr. Cotsarelis says that if more WNT proteins are transported to the wound, the embryonic genes will promote skin regeneration, not just simple clotting and repair. If the level of the WNT proteins is increased, the number of the new hair follicles also increases.

According to some hair experts, the findings of this study not only provide opportunities for the development of hair loss treatments. Instead, effective exploration of the WNT proteins might also prompt the creation of various treatments for other skin problems and hair disorders.

How To Stop Hair Loss And Regrow Lost Hair

PureHealth asked:

Curing Hair Loss : Hair Like Samson (before he met Delilah)

A multi-millionaire will be made one day – the day a scientific researcher finds a simple, inexpensive, universally successful hair regrowth product. And that day will come. The amount of money being funneled into hair loss research is phenomenal, and as long as our society puts such great stock in appearance and beautiful heads of hair, the research will continue until that simple cure is found.

Until then, men and women must investigate and experiment with a variety of products which will have a variety of results, dependent upon the individual. Each human body is unique, with unique levels of hormones, chemicals, and enzymes. For this reason, to date, there is not a universal cure. Some people experience reduction in hair loss and solid regrowth, while others using the same product may not see the same results.

For those who experience less than desired results from the variety of topicals, pills, herbs and hair products available, there are currently surgical “cures,” if they have the financial wherewithal to pursue them. These involve a variety of transplant techniques and can be tedious and a bit painful. Such cures are available for both men and women.

Transplants: In transplants, a hair strip is taken from a donor area of the scalp, usually the back, because pattern baldness in both men and women usually does not affect the back of the head. From these stips, individual follicles are extracted and then implanted into the bald area of the scalp. The “art” of this procedure is to get the follicle in so that the slant of the hair is correct for that part of the head. There are usually 1-5 hairs in each follicle, so you can imagine how many transplants have to occur if someone wants a full thick head of hair to replace a completely bald spot. The average cost of transplant, per follicle is $4 – $6. The average cost of pattern baldness transplants is about $10,000.00 – a hefty bill for most of us. For women who have overall balding events, the cost can be greater still.

If you do not have $10,000 to spend at the moment and you must wait until regrowth products improve, you may have to be content with less preferable but effective methods like using Provillus available at http://www.provillus.com. There have been great advances in hair pieces for men, and wigs are as much a fashion accessory as jewelry for women. If you select this route, buy a good one and go to a professional who is widely experienced in developing unique hair pieces for individual needs. Generally, you get what you pay for. Fit and ability to have confidence that wind and lots of movement will not move your hair piece are extremely important. While not the permanent cure you really want, the embarrassment of societal reaction to your baldness is eliminated.

Keep abreast of research in the area of hair loss cures. Scientists are close, and the answer could come any day. In the meantime, do what makes you feel comfortable and confident, and use any product that helps you reduce the rate of your current hair loss. Stress and anxiety over this condition will only make it worse.

Physicians Note That Most Hair Loss Treatments Do Not Work

W. Darren - asked:

According to recent statistics that was published in the Washington Post, an estimated three in every four men and one in every ten women will develop and suffer from a hair loss condition at some point in their lives. Based on some estimates, the balding population in the United States spends more than $3.5 billion every year, just to prevent the occurrence of hair loss. However, what’s unfortunate is the fact that according to the American Hair Loss Association (AHLA), “99 percent of these ethically questionable products are completely ineffective.”

The Basics of Hair Loss Problems

Dr. Bernard Cohen, a certified dermatologist and hair restoration surgeon in Coral Gables, Florida points out that there are two major kinds of hair loss. The first type is the natural kind. This “Shedding” is included in the normal growth and rest stage of the hair. In this process, hair strands of regular sizes and diameters fall out. After the rest period however, new and normal hair will grow in their place.

In contrast to the “shedding” type, the other kind of hair loss is often referred to as “balding”. This is troubling case of hair loss that comes in many forms. Balding may be in the form of “telogen effluvium”. In this temporary balding condition, excessive shedding happens because of physical or psychological trauma. The causes are chemotherapy, high fever, weight loss, pregnancy, drugs, anemia and stress. However, the more popular form of balding is androgenetic alopecia, often dubbed as “thinning”.

Dr. Cohen explains “thinning” as the condition where the number of hairs usually stays the same. However, the problem stems from the fact that each time hair re-grows, the new strands will be shorter and smaller in diameter. Such reduction in hair size continues to progress until the strands totally vanish. Dr. Cohen further points out that the process is quite gradual so “a person will already have lost 50 percent of their hair before it is even noticeable.”

Addressing the Inefficiency of Hair Loss Medications

There are various drugs and medications that are being used to treat hair loss conditions these days. Hair loss patients can choose from Minoxidil, Finasteride, Dutasteride and other DHT inhibitors. They may work through various ways but they basically do the same thing – they promote hair growth as they slow down hair loss. What’s particularly troubling however is the fact that the new hair that grows is thinner and smaller in diameter. Hair that grow through the use of drugs and medications are not the same as the original thick hair that grows on most people.

Dr. Cohen points out that hair growing from treated hair follicles can grow fine hairs which have significantly smaller diameters as compared to normal hair. He also notes that hair loss medications are only applicable for people who still have functioning hair follicles. However, hair loss drugs will no longer work for people who have severely damaged or dead hair follicles. As Dr. Cohen points out, “Once it’s gone, nothing will re-grow it.” The inefficiency of these present medications prompts scientists and dermatologists to look for improved hair loss treatments such as hair follicle cloning and gene therapy.

Male And Female Hair Loss Or Alopecia

Nasrullah Mardani asked:

Alopecia or loss of hair in males differs from the alopecia of females. It is known as male pattern baldness. It is very common type of baldness and most of men suffer from it. Degree of severity varies from trivial to extreme. Male pattern baldness is on account of disorder of male hormones, which are collectively known as androgens. The hormone connected with male pattern hair loss is testosterone. Hormones are chemical messengers produced by the body that stimulated activity by organs or tissues elsewhere in the body. If a man has inherited the genes responsible for hair loss, a little of this testosterone is made by some of the hair roots into a derivative named as dihydrotestosterone. This dihydrotestosteron is mostly responsible for male pattern hair loss.

In males, alopecia starts during the twenties or early thirties of the life. There will be gradual loss of hair noticed from vertex (center of head facing sky) and temporal regions (sides). This process of falling hair may also begin after attaining puberty. The anterior hairline become thin or recedes on each side in such a fashion that the forehead becomes high. In course of time, the top of scalp totally becomes devoid of hair. In some cases, it is not the full-scale hair falling but falling at the vertex and receding of hair on both sides of parietal region. In some cases, there is uniform thinning of hair over the top of scalp with no pattern of spot baldness or otherwise. This thinning leads to complete baldness later.

The rate of falling hair varies from person to person. In the first stage, there will be sudden loss of hair in the twenties and this process of hair falling goes on slowly in coming number of years. The pattern of such hair falling in twenties and thirties of the life is that the hair falling is not affecting the occipital areas and parietal area. A patient of about twenty-five years came to me with complaint of hair loss from of head and vertex. His anxiety was that he was getting married. His father had also faced the same problem and he knew that it is by heredity. I advised him to wear the wig because there is no method to eliminate the inherited factors. He did not purchase a wig but was satisfied that there is no treatment. He got married and at the age of thirty-seven, he was completely bald at vertex and forehead.

There is a strong inherited factor in balding. This can be either from paternal or maternal side of the family. This affects both male and female but in most of cases of females, they do not inherit complete baldness. The pity is that the medical science does not know the exact mechanism working behind this theme of baldness. The doctors still advice and consol the patients prescribing medicines and oils etc.

I have not seen eunuchs developing baldness. The science might have attributed many reasons for this but practically; we take it as creation of Almighty.

Can a Thyroid Dysfunction Cause Hair Loss? What are the Symptoms and Signs?

Gary Heron asked:

There are many factors that contribute towards hair loss: hormonal changes, diet and nutritional deficiency, stress and poor health. A major cause of severe hair loss is developing a thyroid problem. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism are responsible for causing severe early onset of hair loss in both men and women of all ages. Everyone seems to believe that these problems will never happen to them and that a thyroid dysfunction is something that happens to old people. This is far from the truth. We see male and female patients from all age groups. Ask your GP for a blood test immediately if you have a suspicion and consult one of our trichologists early on for advice. Early trichological treatment can prevent severe hair loss from this condition and its associated prescription drugs. Hair growth has a three phase growth cycle: anagen, catagen and telogen dormant phase. When a person suffers from hypothyroidism or hypothyroidism, the general mechanism of the hair growth process shuts down and loses balance. Thyroid malfunctions can force hair follicles to remain in the dormant phase for a longer period of time than normal. This leads to stalled hair growth and eventually to hair loss.

The thyroid is an endocrine gland, which is located on both sides of the trachea. It secretes the thyroid hormone, known as thyroxin, which regulates the rate of the metabolism. Any disruption in the mechanism can have great impact on overall metabolic activities. Once the metabolism is disturbed, it has been found to cause a series of abnormalities, one major factor being hair loss. Hypothyroidism has often been seen in women. It is often characterized by problems such as lethargy, menstrual imbalance and deceleration of metabolic rate. All of these factors contribute to hair loss. On the other hand, highly excessive functional activities of the thyroid gland can also cause hair loss.

Hormonal dysfunction within the body has a massive effect on hair loss. Hair loss occurs when dihydrotestosterone (DHT) shrinks the hair follicles and eventually causes them to disappear completely. The problem of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism both encourage the conversion process of testosterone into DHT which accelerates hair loss in both men and women of all ages.

Hair loss induced by hormonal abnormalities is serious. This requires immediate action. We suggest that if you are in any doubt then simply feel free to call one of our trichologists for advice.

Do Hair Growth Vitamins Work?

Jackie Johnson asked:

There has been a great deal of controversy about the use of hair growth vitamins. Do they actually work to grow back your thinning hair. There are many people who believe that they are the answer to the problem of thinning hair.

Vitamins are generally used when there is a lack of an important vitamin in your nutritional intake. If your hair loss is caused by a lack of a vitamin it is possible that adding the vitamins to your hair care product or diet might be a solution to your problem. The first thing that you should do is a little homework on the vitamins that will promote healthy growth of hair. Once you know what will help, you might be able to determine what you are lacking in your hair care or diet.

Hair loss typically occurs when the scalp produces DHT that surrounds the hair follicles. When the follicles are clogged with DHT they will shrink and die. You will now no longer be able to grow hair from those follicles. If you can stop your scalp from producing this chemical you will be able to prevent hair loss that is caused by DHT. There are products available on the market that will be able to help you to battle the effects of DHT.

Look for a product that contains vitamins if you are experiencing a thinning of your hair. It might be the lack of a vitamin that is causing your hair to produce the chemical on your scalp that is causing your hair to fall out. Look for an all natural product that is made by a reputable company that has been researching hair treatments for a number of years. There are a lot of products available that make great promises, but do not deliver. Anyone can say that their product will grow your hair, but there are only a few that actually will.

Take a look at some of the research studies that have been done on hair growth vitamins and find out if there are any findings for the success of these vitamins for the growth of your hair. You should take a look at the available natural products that use these vitamins for growing back your thinning hair.

Try out a few different hair growth vitamins to see if there is any effect on your thinning hair. You should also check with your doctor for any information that he might have on the effect of vitamins on hair loss. You should also be aware that some vitamins might not interact well with any medication that you might be taking.

Remember to do your homework when you are looking for hair growth vitamins. Make sure that the business that you are buying vitamins or hair care products from is a reputable solid company. Check to see how long they have been in business and that they follow the highest quality standards. You might just be able to grow back your thinning hair.

W. Darren - asked:

According to a study made by hair experts, 50% of all men and about 40% of women will undergo massive hair loss sometime in the span of their life. This study shows how serious the problem of hair loss to anybody. Most hair loss is linked genetically to an ancestor who has previous hair loss experience in their lifetime. That is why an effective hair loss solution is needed in order to eradicate this problem.

1. One main hair loss solution is ability to have a proper nutritional diet that will produce much needed nutrients in our hair, eating foods rich in fiber, protein and vitamin C helps lessen the possibility of hair loss. Medical experts agree that hair loss occurs on individuals with certain deficiencies in some important nutrients. A healthy diet can be rightfully called as an effective hair loss solution.

2. Another leading hair loss solution is the laser therapy. This process involves a low level amount of laser being applied to the scalp of the head in order to stimulate and start a new procession of healthy hair growth. This process of hair loss solution is however a bit expensive than other hair loss solution. Still nobody can say that this type of hair loss solution do not work as evidence by a number of people, the laser therapy generates great results in battling the problem of hair loss. The Westminster Practice Hair Loss News Blog Gets 6,000 Visits a Week

Gary Heron asked:

From the age of just 19 I realized that I was already losing my hair. Due to the fact that I am incredibly vain, I immediately wanted to slow, if not stop, the process of baldness. I consulted The Hair Centre some 2 years ago and after a meeting with one of their Trichologists I started a Programme treatment using Vitastim and a combination of prescribed tricho-active shampoos. Initially, I was very sceptical as I am sure most people are, but what the hell, it’s only money, and if it actually worked, well, then it’s money well spent. This course, although slowing the balding process, did not stop my hair fallout. However, in the last year or so I have started using Biostim with Vitastim twice a day. I am now delighted to say that my hair is thickening and, believe it or not, growing back! The wonders of science. Having used the No.2 cream and No.4 shampoo for just a few weeks for psoriasis, I was very surprised how quickly these products worked after years of struggling with this complaint. The overall condition of my hair and scalp improved greatly and I found it very reassuring to know that only natural products are used in the manufacture of The Hair Centre products. I feel very satisfied and that I am in professional hands. In 1999 I made an appointment to see my doctor because I had discovered a couple of bald patches at back of my head right on the hair line, they were about 2 to 3 inches in diameter, I was panic stricken and didn’t know what to do. The growth rate of my hair had also slowed down considerably. My doctor diagnosed that I had alopecia areata and prescribed a steroid cream. I was told that my condition was stress related. After having used the cream for sometime my condition worsened with the largest patch getting larger and starting to meet up with 2 new patches that I had not had before, these other patches appeared behind each of my ears. I had been using the cream diligently for 6 months. Frighteningly, the only other alternative treatment my doctor could offer me was steroid injections into the patches on my scalp, which I refused. Meanwhile, a friend of mine had told me about this fabulous new website called The Hair Centre. Being a naturally suspicious person this prompted me to telephone them for advice, as by now I was beginning to get worse and starting to feel desperately depressed as I could see my appearance deteriorating almost daily. I spoke to this really helpful trichologist, who informed me that the cream prescribed by my doctor was completely useless and would probably cause further damage because it was a strong and aggressive steroid. After a long conversation about my condition the trichologist advised me to use the Vitastim hair re-growth stimulant in conjunction with the No.1 shampoo and No.5 conditioner. I started to use the stimulant twice a day at home. I also used the No.1 specially formulated shampoo for hair loss and No.5 intensive hair recovery conditioner three times a week as directed. My hair loss slowed up and stopped almost immediately (3 to 4 months) and the condition of my hair and scalp had vastly improved. I am delighted to say that 12 months on I have fully recovered. Although, it has taken a long time (12 months) I am extremely pleased with the results. My hair is growing at its usual rate, all of the patches I had, have completely re-grown and my hair feels normal again. I have no hesitation in recommending The Hair Centre trichologically balanced treatments and shampoo products, really are first class – they are the best.

Ryan D. Taylor asked:

Hair loss is very significant in men that are why there are several products out there that are used to treat this condition. Before knowing the different products used to treat male pattern baldness, it will be a great idea to know that main cause of this condition.

Dihydrotestostrone or DHT has been said to be the main culprit in this condition. It is a hormone that inhibits the growth of hair. As men get older, DHT has the tendency to attach itself on the hair follicles which makes it smaller and smaller which results to thin hair.

So here are some of the effective hair loss products that can be used by men:

This product has been said to be most effective for men ages 18 to 35 but still effectively works for most old aged men.

If the Procerin topical solution and tablet are used together to treat hair loss, the change will be much faster. Significant results can be seen after one to two months of using this product.
